Elect Shailene Panylo as your Ward 3 City Councillor!

For four years, I've proudly advocated for you as an elected DDSB Trustee, and together we delivered on nearly every priority I ran on in 2022.

Now, I'm ready to bring that same commitment and energy to city council for Ward 3; listening, advocating, and getting results for our community - all while shaking things up.

Some of my platform pillars are below, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. You can donate, request a sign, or send me your feedback below.

My Priorities, based on your feedback!

Actually Affordable, Inclusive Housing

Spend Smarter, Not Just More; Financial Stewardship Matters

Safer Neighbourhoods, Prevention-First Care

Focusing on housing projects and developments that are truly affordable for those that need them most, because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

Safer Neighbourhoods, Prevention-First Care

Spend Smarter, Not Just More; Financial Stewardship Matters

Safer Neighbourhoods, Prevention-First Care

Prioritizing prevention works, and together we can build neighbourhoods that are safer and accessible for all to enjoy, without excluding, shaming, or abandoning those who are most vulnerable.

Homelessness, addiction, mental health and violence are housing and health challenges, and we can address these root causes while proportionately protecting one another.

Spend Smarter, Not Just More; Financial Stewardship Matters

Spend Smarter, Not Just More; Financial Stewardship Matters

Spend Smarter, Not Just More; Financial Stewardship Matters

How we spend public dollars matters, and after 4 years of balanced $1 billion dollar+ budgets and the need for creativity in the face of provincial funding cuts at the Board, we can get folks the services and value they deserve without demanding more from them.

Let's ensure development and growth investments in Oshawa actually create good, local jobs, accessible places, community amenities and economic value that we can all truly enjoy and benefit from. We can build partnerships and use city lands to benefit those that call Oshawa home. Whether it’s development charges or recreation spaces, decisions should benefit us now and in the future.

Transparent Government; To You, By You

Transparency matters more than ever; initiative costs, maintenance plans, long-term visions, and showing real benefits of those that call Oshawa home are key to building trust and connection in your local government.

That means meeting you where you are, and ensuring your voice is reflected in every discussion at the Council table.

Reliable Transit & Safer Streets for All

Reliable Transit & Safer Streets for All

Designing a city around human safety and accessibility, no matter how you move around.

Whether you cycle to school or work, walk our local trails and sidewalks, drive on our busy roads, or rely on buses and transit, you deserve reliable, safe, and accessible transportation. Let's get our community moving in the ways that you need, and the ways that matter.

It's official...

Shailene Panylo elected DDSB Trustee!

I'm proud to share I was elected to serve as one of Oshawa's 3 Durham District School Board Trustees in the October 2022 election.

I'm taking it back to my roots, old stomping grounds, and where my advocacy all started.

We have a lot to do, Oshawa. Let's get to work!

Federal Political Advocacy - 2019 & 2021

"Politics wasn't for me... or so I thought. I was always a grassroots organizer pushing for change from the outside-in, but in order to make the kind of systemic changes we need, I knew we needed a seat at the table."
